Maid Suffers Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Girne Apartment Fire
A maid was hospitalized after inhaling carbon monoxide during a fire in the basement of an apartment building in Girne.
According to police reports, the fire broke out around 10:00 PM last night in a basement area on Kardelen Street used by staff. Initial investigations suggest that the blaze was caused by a space heater overheating and short-circuiting while in operation.
Firefighters responded quickly and managed to extinguish the flames, but the fire caused extensive damage, destroying a bed, mattress, aluminum door and window, an air conditioner, the space heater, and various personal belongings.
The maid was taken to Akçiçek Hospital, where she received medical treatment before being discharged.
