Cyprus police reported that several police officers were injured during a protest outside the parliament building organized against the cost-of-living bill.

According to the Police Department, stones were thrown at officers, resulting in many of them sustaining minor injuries.

Three police officers were taken to the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia: one was hit in the head by a stone, another was struck in the chest, and a female officer suffered facial injuries.

Police noted that the protest was organized by trade unions and public organizations against planned changes to the legislation on cost-of-living compensation.

The department emphasized that the right to assembly and demonstration is constitutional, but it must be exercised without disrupting public order or the rights of other citizens.
