Eastern Mediterranean University Earns Spot in Sustainability Rankings

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) has ranked 868th in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Sustainability Rankings, which evaluate universities based on their efforts to address global environmental, social, and governance challenges.

According to a statement from the university, EMU, which was ranked between 1101 and 1150 in 2023, has climbed to 868th in this year's rankings, which include 1,743 universities worldwide.

The University of Toronto topped the rankings, followed by ETH Zurich in Switzerland in second place. Lund University from Sweden and the University of California, Berkeley, tied for third place.

EMU earned the following rankings in specific categories:

  • 407th in equality
  • 689th in environmental research
  • 854th in social impact
  • 873rd in management
  • 993rd in environmental impact

"EMU continues to pursue its sustainable development goals, aiming to make the world more sustainable and livable. Last year, we became the first university from our country to be included in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2025. We are proud to once again represent our country as the first university in this important list," said EMU Rector Hasan Kılıç.
