Accommodation tax in Turkey
Updated: 11 months ago
For a long time, Turkey was one of the few countries where tourists were not charged a special accommodation tax. Because of this, the price of hotels and apartments was lower than in many other Mediterranean countries.
From January 1, 2023, the situation changed. The Ministry of Tourism in Turkey is introducing an accommodation tax: 2% of the cost of each day in a hotel or apartment. The tax will only be charged to those who are temporarily in the country.
Therefore, if you are planning a holiday in Istanbul or Antalya, you should prepare for the fact that prices will be even higher.
