Violation of the visa regime – is the fine automatically annulled?
If you violated the visa regime, you should pay a fine not upon departure but on re-entry. The laws of the TRNC are so loyal to tourists and visitors that they include setting penalties to zero. The following scheme works:
- If the visa has been overdue for up to six months, they will cancel the penalty one year after you depart from the country.
- If the visa has been overdue from six months to a year, they will cancel the penalty after two years from the date of departure.
- If the visa is overdue for more than one year (the maximum period unknown), they will cancel the penalty three years after you leave the country.
The legislation of Northern Cyprus is tolerant of violators, but it is still better to renew tourist visas on time or apply for a residence permit. How to do it yourself, read on our website.
