Is a residence permit required for people over 60 in Northern Cyprus?
Below is brief information on the rules for obtaining a residence permit for retirees in Northern Cyprus.
Rules for obtaining a residence permit for retirees
Previously, retirees moving to the northern part of Cyprus could live on the island without obtaining an official residence permit, and they were not subject to fines for overstaying. However, the rules have changed.
According to the current information from the Immigration Department, there are no special benefits or privileges for persons over 60 years old. Retirees apply for a residence permit on the same general basis as all other categories of settlers.
The only difference is that retirees are usually issued a residence permit for two years at a time, provided they own property of any value.
