Lady's Mile Beach

The beach is named after “Lady,” the mare of the British governor during the British rule, who used to ride along the sea in these areas.

Located in Limassol, this 5-kilometer coastal stretch with stunning, pristine sands and shallow waters runs along the eastern side of Akrotiri.

The shoreline is divided into several sections, some of which are known and advertised as separate beaches within Lady’s Mile, such as Captain’s Cabin—a popular area equipped with an inflatable playground.

The water here is crystal clear, a rich blue color, and there is an easy entry to the sea. The shallowest part of the beach is in the southern part, where dark gray sand turns to golden-brown. Shells can be found along the beach.

Location of Lady’s Mile Beach

Lady’s Mile Beach is located to the west of Limassol, on the Akrotiri Peninsula, within the namesake district. It is part of the British territories on the island and begins almost immediately after the border. There are no major highways here, only two small roads leading to the beach. Further south, there is a small settlement.

Lady's Mile Beach Infrastructure

The infrastructure here is well-developed: sunbed rentals, restaurants, bathing areas, toilets, showers, changing rooms, loungers and umbrellas, equipment rentals for leisure and water activities.

From April to October, lifeguards with rescue equipment and first-aid services are on duty at the beach.

The beach is divided into several zones:

Family Zone: Includes the “Captain’s Cabin” café with a children’s playground, water slide, café, and inflatable playground in the water. Children from 3 to 10 years old have free entry, while adults pay a fee. The entry to the sea here is shallow.

Wild Zone: Located a little further, it is more pebbly. It is perfect for those seeking solitude and tranquility or wanting to engage in sports.

Youth Zone: Located near the bar, this area is where young people usually gather to enjoy music, cocktails, and evening parties.

This area is also known for its restaurants serving fresh fish and traditional Cypriot cuisine. Some of the restaurants offer additional amenities, including inflatable water attractions and games for children.

Nearby Attractions at Lady’s Mile Beach

Nearby is one of Cyprus’s main natural attractions—the Akrotiri Salt Lake in Limassol, the largest body of water on the island. In the summer, the lake dries up, leaving layers of salt, while in winter, it fills with water again. During the migration season, a large number of birds flock here, and the main attraction for tourists is the pink flamingos.

Further south of Lady’s Mile is the untouched Button Beach area, where small coastal sand dunes have grown. Nearby is an interesting and rather old Saint Nicholas Monastery, claimed to have been built in 365 AD.

Lady’s Mile Beach Climate

The best time to visit Cyprus resorts is from April to October. During this period, the water temperature is around +25°C, and the air temperature can reach +31°C. At night, the temperature drops by 2-5 degrees. The hottest months are July and August. If you prefer a cooler climate, October is the best choice.

From December to February, the temperature drops to +17°C, making the sea unsuitable for swimming. During these months, there is often rain and north winds. The Akrotiri Peninsula is unprotected from winds, creating good waves for surfing in this area.
