History of Paphos Zoo

The project began with a man's love for birds and wildlife. Initially, the zoo was planned to house a massive collection of birds owned by a local resident, Christos Christoforou, but he decided to open it to the public so they could enjoy the magnificence of his collection. Another goal was to educate the local population about the importance of caring for and preserving all wild animals. The construction of the zoo took about 3 years, and it opened to visitors in September 2003.

Paphos Zoo Today

Paphos Zoo is the first and largest licensed zoo in Cyprus, located in lush and pristine natural surroundings covering an area of over 100,000 sq. m. It is one of the island's leading tourist attractions. The zoo is home to a vast variety of birds and animals from all corners of the globe.
