The hero of a film is not always a character played by an actor. The setting can also be an essential part of the story. Here are films where the action takes place partially or entirely in Cyprus.

We did not include documentaries about the Turkish-Greek conflict on the island or various short films.

Othello: The Tragedy of the Moor of Venice (1951)

A Moorish general, Othello, is manipulated into believing his new wife, Desdemona, is having an affair with his lieutenant, Michael Cassio. In reality, it’s all part of a scheme by the cunning ensign Iago.

A Greek Cypriot drama by Yannis Economides. After his father’s death, Nikos moves from Ptolemaida to Athens. His uncle provides food and shelter, and he starts taking care of the dogs. Small Crime (2008)
