10-Year-Old British Girl Nearly Drowns in Hotel Pool in Protaras
A child narrowly avoided a tragic accident in Cyprus: a 10-year-old girl from the United Kingdom almost drowned in a hotel pool in Protaras. She is currently in critical condition at the hospital.
According to the police press office, the incident occurred last Sunday around 3:00 PM. The girl, who was on holiday in Cyprus with her mother and siblings, was found unconscious in the hotel pool in Protaras. She was immediately taken to Makarios Hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition.
The girl is intubated and under anesthesia in the pediatric intensive care unit, and medical staff are working to save her life.
The Famagusta Police Department is investigating the circumstances that led to the child’s near-drowning. Preliminary reports indicate that there were no lifeguards on duty at the hotel pool.
The police are interviewing hotel guests and taking statements from the girl’s mother.
