15-year-old Christofor fell victim to 50 days of online blackmail before his tragic death
The story of 15-year-old Christofor, a teenager of Cypriot origin, has once again come into the spotlight. The young man died in 2022 after nearly 50 days of psychological pressure and threats on the internet.
According to his father, the teenager met a group of people through an online game. They posed as his peers and gradually drew him into a series of so-called "challenges." Initially, the tasks appeared harmless, but over time they became increasingly severe and dangerous.
The teenager was forced to stay awake for hours, be constantly online, and follow instructions under threats of harm to his family. The situation escalated sharply after the perpetrators obtained his parents' personal data.
According to the family, the boy's behavior changed significantly in the final weeks before the tragedy. "He became like a robot," his father recalls.
It was later discovered that the accounts the teenager communicated with might have belonged to a single source, indicating potential organized activity. Communication took place via the Dark Web, which significantly complicated the investigation.
The family, living in the United Kingdom, is now campaigning to inform parents about the dangers of online manipulation and is calling for closer monitoring of children's internet activity.
The tragedy has once again raised the issue of the need to strengthen the protection of minors on the internet and for closer international cooperation in combating such crimes.
