19-Year-Old Admits to Double Murder Near Limassol
The Republic of Cyprus police have solved a high-profile double murder case involving burned bodies found in a car near Limassol. The 19-year-old suspect has confessed to the brutal crime.
On Sunday, the Limassol District Court extended the detention of the 19-year-old and a 24-year-old man, who are suspected of the double murder of two Slovakian nationals. Their charred bodies were discovered in a burned-out Opel Astra on July 31 in the Lisovounos area, situated between Parekklisia and Kelaki, about 50 meters from the main road.
In court, a police investigator revealed that the 19-year-old had admitted to receiving threats from one of the victims and had planned to kill him. After the crime, the teenager contacted an acquaintance to report the incident.
The police also presented phone records to the court, confirming communication between the 19-year-old and one of the victims, as well as with the second suspect.
Both suspects face charges including conspiracy to commit murder, premeditated murder, arson of the vehicle, and illegal possession, transportation, and use of firearms and explosives.
The court was informed that the accused initially intended to push the car with the bodies off a cliff but decided instead to set it on fire after buying gasoline from a service station.
Earlier reports suggested that the crime stemmed from financial disputes. At previous hearings, the teenager identified one of the victims as his drug dealer.
Despite admitting their involvement, both detainees continue to accuse each other of the crime.
