Zero VAT on meat and fish to be introduced in Cyprus from April 6
From April 6, a zero VAT rate on meat and fish will be introduced in Cyprus. The decision aims to reduce food prices and support consumers.
The zero rate will apply to:
- fresh, chilled, and frozen meat;
- fresh, chilled, and frozen fish;
- seafood, including cuttlefish, squid, and octopus.
At the same time, some products will remain at a reduced VAT rate of 5%, for example:
- marinated meat;
- sausages, patties, sheftalia, and gyros;
- smoked meat;
- canned or smoked fish and other prepared fish and meat products.
The measure is intended to lower the cost of essential food items for the population.
