Over 2,000 Passengers Affected by Flight Cancellations Between Cyprus and Middle East
Escalation in the Middle East has led to mass flight cancellations at Larnaca and Paphos airports. Hundreds of passengers were forced to change their travel plans, with the total number of affected travelers exceeding 2,000.
By noon, airlines including Cyprus Airways, Wizz Air, and Aegean Airlines announced the suspension of flights to several Middle Eastern countries.
Wizz Air has suspended all flights to Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman until March 7.
Aegean Airlines cancelled flights from February 28 to March 3 to and from:
- Tel Aviv
- Erbil
- Baghdad
- Beirut
- Dubai
- Abu Dhabi
According to Hermes Airports, 9 arrivals and 12 departures were cancelled in Larnaca, while Paphos saw 2 arrivals and 2 departures cancelled.
A Wizz Air flight from Larnaca to Tel Aviv that departed in the morning was forced to turn back. Meanwhile, flights from Qatar Airways, Gulf Air, and Emirates arrived in Cyprus, but their return flights to the region have been cancelled.
