Four Britons Arrested at Paphos Airport for Smuggling Untaxed Cigarettes
Police at Paphos Airport have arrested four British tourists who attempted to bring 280 packs of untaxed cigarettes onto the island.
According to the press office of the Chief Police Directorate, the incident occurred last night. Around 20:50, a Customs officer at Paphos Airport searched the luggage of four individuals who had arrived as tourists from England. Each of them had one piece of luggage containing 70 packs of untaxed cigarettes.
On suspicion of committing an offense related to the duty-free trade of tobacco products, four people were arrested: three women and one man, aged 59, 54, 53, and 52. All have been taken into custody.
The case is being investigated by the ADE and the Customs Department of Paphos.
