CY-Alert to go live in Cyprus on June 2: residents will be warned about emergencies in real time
Starting from June 2, 2026, a new public early warning system, CY-Alert, will begin operating in Cyprus. The Civil Defence Service reminded the public of this, stressing the importance of timely information for citizens in the event of emergencies and natural disasters.
The system is designed to rapidly send alerts to people in areas affected by natural disasters, fires, extreme weather events or other threats. Notifications will be delivered in real time, allowing citizens to respond quickly to danger and take the necessary measures to protect their lives, health and property.
According to the Civil Defence Service, the implementation of CY-Alert is an important step in strengthening the national security system and improving the population’s preparedness for emergencies.
Authorities note that the main goal of the new platform is to ensure the fastest possible dissemination of critically important information among residents and visitors of the country who are in the risk zone.
The launch of CY-Alert is scheduled for June 2 and will become part of a comprehensive strategy to improve the efficiency of emergency response across the Republic of Cyprus.
