Cyprus Department of Road Transport warns about dangerous vehicles
The Cyprus Department of Road Transport (TOM) issued a warning regarding risks of electric shock, fire, and injuries related to a number of vehicles and automotive components that have been identified as hazardous at the EU level.
The warning follows information received from the Consumer Protection Service and published in the European rapid alert system Safety Gate.
Electric trucks identified as hazardous:
- Renault Trucks D ZE, D WIDE ZE
(production periods: 11.12.2023–29.07.2024 and 26.02.2024–11.11.2024) - Renault Trucks T BEV
(23.10.2023–18.11.2024)
Possible fire hazard identified for:
- Ford Otosan CARGO TRUCK, F-MAX TRUCK
(20.08.2022–20.02.2024) - Toyota Proace and Proace City
(26.07.2025–09.10.2025)
The warning also applies to:
- ALCAR Dezent TV 6.5x16 aluminum wheels
- Michelin 355/50R22.5 tires
- Suzuki DR-Z400 motorcycle (DR-Z4SM, DR-Z4S)
- Ford Ranger pickup
- Ford Transit Custom light commercial vehicle
Manufacturers, importers, dealers, and sellers are urged to immediately notify the Department of Road Transport if the listed vehicles or components are present in the Cyprus market and to take measures for their recall.
Owners of such cars and motorcycles are advised to check their registration certificate details and contact the manufacturer or official representative for instructions.
For components, the Department recommends ceasing use and returning them to the seller. If the seller refuses, consumers can file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Service via www.consumer.gov.cy.
