Roads of Paphos to be closed for carnival
The Municipality of Paphos announces that as part of the Paphitiko Carnival on March 7 and 16, 2024, parts of the city will be closed off, and road traffic rules will be temporarily changed.
In particular, on Thursday, March 7, from 16:00 to 18:00, due to the carnival procession starting from the World War II Memorial, traffic on C. Digeni Avenue, S. Afxentiou Avenue, and adjacent streets will be allowed in parts. Similar measures will be taken on March 16 from 13:30 to 18:00.
Traffic on L. G. Digeni Street will be possible up to O. Androutsou Street (near the World War II Memorial), and Grigoria Afxentiou Street at the entrance to the former police station will be closed.
It is also worth noting that citizens will be able to use the former police station, the stadium of the 7th Primary School, the stadium of High School A ("G.S. Korivos"), the "Caravelle" parking lot, and the parking lot near the "Pontian Greek Genocide Memorial" as parking areas.
Drivers are kindly asked to avoid approaching the mentioned roads and to use alternative routes to their destinations.
As previously reported, this year's carnival in Paphos will involve about seven thousand participants. The theme of the celebration will be Ancient Egypt and its pharaohs. Over 50 festive platforms will be organized as part of the carnival in Paphos.
