Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman released a statement on social media addressing discussions surrounding his stance on the Cyprus issue and the situation regarding the entry bans imposed by Turkey on several Turkish Cypriot intellectuals.

The politician emphasized that he intends neither to create illusory expectations nor to succumb to a mood of despair. According to him, his goal remains unchanged: seeking solutions through consultation, diplomacy, and dialogue, without escalating tensions.

“I am not here to increase confrontation, but to contribute to the solution of problems,” Erhürman noted, recalling that attempts to act through confrontation in the past have not yielded results.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to democratic values and human rights, rejecting both indifference and pessimistic assessments of society's future. Acknowledging the existing frustration within the community, Erhürman stated that he remains calm, patient, and determined.

In conclusion, the politician stressed that his confidence is based on trust in people and the potential of the region. “I have always been among the citizens and continue to listen to them,” he declared, adding that he will not deviate from his chosen course.

Erhürman's statement comes amid intensifying public debate regarding the future of the negotiation process and the political situation in Cyprus.
