Ersin Tatar Announces Date for Meeting with Nikos Christodoulides at New Year's Reception
Ersin Tatar, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and his wife, Sibel Tatar, hosted the traditional New Year's reception for the press. During the gathering, the TRNC leader revealed the dates for his upcoming meeting with Nikos Christodoulides, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, and also outlined the schedule for expanded 4+1 format negotiations.
Tatar confirmed that the meeting with the President of Cyprus is set for January 20-21. The talks involving the United Nations and the guarantor countries—Greece and Turkey—are scheduled for March.
"It seems that a broad-based meeting will take place in Switzerland in mid-March. This is our proposal. We continue to pursue the policy of establishing two states, alongside our homeland, the Republic of Turkey," Tatar stated.
The TRNC president also highlighted that support for the TRNC from other nations is growing steadily. During a recent phone conversation, Tatar secured the backing of Azerbaijan's President, Ilham Aliyev.
In his address at the reception, Tatar took a moment to reflect on the past year and expressed his hopes for the new year. He wished that 2025 would bring prosperity to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the Republic of Turkey, the entire Turkic world, and humanity.
"The TRNC is a beautiful homeland, a place where dedicated people fight for their rights together and where consensus is achieved. The TRNC is our home, and we care for it," he emphasized.
