UN Peacekeeping Head to Brief the UN Security Council in New York
Colin Stewart, the UN Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), will be conducting a series of briefings in New York ahead of the Security Council’s upcoming vote on extending the UNFICYP mandate.

Today, Stewart is expected to present to the countries that contribute troops to the UN mission in Cyprus. On January 16, he will deliver a briefing during closed consultations with the Security Council.
A resolution extending the mandate is expected to be adopted on January 31.
Additionally, according to the Cyprus News Agency, Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Peacebuilding, is scheduled to visit Cyprus, Greece, and Turkey in mid-February.
This visit is part of the preparation for an informal extended meeting on the Cyprus issue, which will take place in March in Switzerland.
Exact dates for DiCarlo’s visit are yet to be finalized.
