Mountain Roads in Cyprus Covered in Snow: Some Routes Restricted to 4WD Vehicles
Heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures have made driving conditions hazardous in the Troodos mountain region. The police are urging drivers to exercise extreme caution and remain alert while traveling in these areas.
According to the latest police reports, the following roads are accessible only to four-wheel-drive vehicles or cars fitted with snow chains:
Limassol District
- Amiantos – Karvounas
- Karvounas – Kyperounta – Agros
- Papoutsas – Agros
- Papoutsas – Agios Theodoros
- Kato Mylos – Agros
- Zoopigi – Agios Theodoros
- Mandria – Platres
- Moniatis – Platres
- Saittas – Pera Pedi – Mandria
- Saittas – Amiantos
Morphou District
- Kalopanayiotis – Moutoullas
- Pedoulas – Prodromos
- Prodromos – Lemithou
- Kakopetria – Pine Forest – Pedoulas
- Kakopetria – Karvounas
- Kykkos – Pedoulas – Tsakkistra
Nicosia District
- Palaichori – Agros
- Askas – Fterikoudi
- Fterikoudi – Alona – Platanistasa
- Alona – Polystypos
- Polystypos – Lagoudera
- Lagoudera – Chandria
- Lagoudera – Xyliatos
Meanwhile, the following roads are open but remain dangerously slippery due to snow and ice:
- Palaichori – Askas
- Palaichori – Farmakas
- Tsakkistra – Kampi
Although winter weather conditions persist across the island, urban roads and highways remain unaffected, with no major disruptions reported.
