Hellenic Bank is closing accounts for Russian citizens
Following in the footsteps of the Bank of Cyprus, the Cypriot bank Hellenic Bank has begun closing accounts for Russian citizens and their operational companies. This was reported in their Telegram channel by the company Main Partner Trust, which provides legal and consulting services in the Republic of Cyprus.
The message specifies that this concerns Russian citizens with Cypriot documents residing in Cyprus. At the same time, the accounts of Russian tax residents, which were serviced by the bank, were closed last year.
- According to our information, hundreds of Russians received "letters of happiness" this week. The reasons for the account closures are not specified in the letters from the bank, - the message says.
Earlier in its report for the three quarters of 2023, Hellenic Bank notified that it intends to comply with the sanctions imposed by Western countries against Russia.
It is worth reminding that earlier the largest bank in Cyprus announced its withdrawal from Russia. On January 22, the Bank of Cyprus closed its representative offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
