Woman Pays €12,000 to Enter Cyprus Illegally
A foreign woman paid €12,000 to enter Cyprus illegally. Last night, police arrested the suspected mastermind behind the operation.
According to the police press office, the woman—a third-country national—was detained as part of an ongoing investigation into forgery, distribution of fake documents, fraud, and aiding illegal entry, transit, and residence in the Republic of Cyprus.
Authorities believe the scheme was carried out between November 2024 and March 2025. A complaint filed with the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) revealed that the 33-year-old woman paid a total of €12,000 to facilitate her illegal journey to Cyprus from abroad.
Among those she allegedly paid was a 50-year-old man, who reportedly showed her fake passports from another European country, assuring her that she would eventually be able to travel there.
Police arrested the man around midnight and took him into custody.
The investigation remains ongoing.
