Due to heavy rains in Nicosia and Larnaca, roads are closed
Due to heavy rains that hit Nicosia and Larnaca, transportation is restricted in various areas of the provinces. The road surface is slippery, and visibility is severely limited.
In particular, due to water accumulation from rains in the Larnaca province, the coastal road from Kivisili to Panagia Petounta in Mazotos has been closed since 13:30. Motorists are asked to use the main Kivisili - Mazotos road as an alternative.
At the same time, in the Nicosia province, due to water overflowing from a stream in the Idali area, the bridge on Nea Ledra Street is closed. Moreover, heavy rainfall is affecting traffic in the rest of the road network in the Idali and Pera Chorio Nisou areas.
Traffic is particularly affected on the Nicosia - Larnaca highway, at the intersection with the Nicosia - Limassol highway, in the areas of Ceri, Pera Chorio Nisou, Alhambra, Lybion, and Kornos, as well as on the highway in the Larnaca airport area, where there is significant water accumulation on the road surface due to heavy rain.
Police recommend that drivers turn on their headlights and observe speed limits and safe distances from other vehicles.
