Cabinet Approves Bill on Phone Tapping

The Cabinet of Ministers of Cyprus today approved a bill providing for the possibility of phone tapping under strict conditions.
Before the government meeting began, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, addressed the issue.
The bill will be submitted to parliament for a vote in the near future. Authorities emphasize that the initiative is aimed at providing law enforcement agencies with an additional tool in the fight against organized crime.
