Abandoned building of a former restaurant caught fire in Paphos
Early in the morning, firefighters were alerted to a fire in an abandoned building in the Kato Paphos area.
According to the fire service, the fire broke out around 05:45 in a premises formerly used as a restaurant. Fire crews arrived promptly and managed to contain and extinguish the flames.
As a result of the fire and high temperatures, the restaurant equipment and the interior of the building were damaged, and an external wooden structure — a pergola — was also affected.
Firefighters also rescued a kitten that was inside the building.
The causes of the fire will be determined during an investigation conducted jointly with the relevant authorities.
