Cyprus Added to U.S. Military Training Program for Eastern Europe
In a significant development, a new amendment to the U.S. defense budget has, for the first time, included Cyprus among the countries eligible to participate in military training programs in Eastern Europe.

This inclusion allows the Cypriot National Guard to take part in multilateral U.S. military exercises with Eastern European nations until 2027.
Government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis emphasized that Cyprus is the only country outside NATO and not part of its "Partnership for Peace" program to be granted eligibility for these U.S.-led military training initiatives.
In a statement on the platform X, Letymbiotis described the amendment as a testament to the strengthening and modernization of bilateral relations between Cyprus and the United States.
- "This amendment marks a significant strategic milestone and a pivotal step, highlighting the increased geopolitical and military importance of the United States in the Republic of Cyprus," Letymbiotis remarked.
This development underscores the deepening ties between Cyprus and the U.S., reflecting the growing recognition of Cyprus's role in regional stability and cooperation.
