The Cypriot police have apprehended a fake lawyer who was extorting money
The Nicosia police arrested a resident of Nicosia who was posing as a lawyer and extorting money from unsuspecting individuals.
According to the police, the case of extortion came to light when a 44-year-old restaurateur reported the incident. He stated that in 2023, he had encountered a 45-year-old man who claimed to be a lawyer.
Subsequently, the suspect allegedly demanded over 10,000 euros from the victim for the registration of employees to work at the restaurateur's establishment in Famagusta. However, the fake lawyer failed to deliver the promised service to the restaurateur.
Following an arrest warrant issued by the police, the fraudster was apprehended and remanded in custody.
