Cyprus Fails to Reach Eurovision 2025 Final
Cyprus has been knocked out of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, despite a dynamic performance. The first semi-final took place last night in Basel, Switzerland, but Cypriot artist Theo Evan, performing his song “Shh”, did not manage to secure a spot in the grand final.
Expectations had been high, with bookmakers rating Cyprus as a strong contender. However, viewers from across Europe voted for their top 10 out of 15 competing countries—and Cyprus didn’t make the cut.
The following countries advanced to the Eurovision 2025 grand final after the first semi-final:
• Norway
• Albania
• Sweden
• Iceland
• Netherlands
• Poland
• San Marino
• Estonia
• Portugal
• Ukraine
This year, the results of the semi-finals are determined entirely by public voting, with viewers from the participating countries, as well as pre-qualified finalists—including Spain, Italy, and host country Switzerland—casting their votes. Cyprus finished last, placing 15th.
Also eliminated were Slovenia, Belgium, Croatia, and Azerbaijan.
The second semi-final will take place on Thursday, May 15. The grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will be held on Saturday, May 17, at 10:00 p.m. Cyprus time.
