Traffic jams occur on highway near Nicosia due to football fans
On Sunday afternoon, serious traffic congestion occurred on the highway towards Kokkinotrimithia near Nicosia.
According to the police, the cause was fans who stopped their cars, went out onto a bridge, and lit flares. As a result, traffic was temporarily blocked, and long queues of cars formed.
The fans were heading to a match in Peristerona.
Traffic police officers arrived at the scene, but by that time, the participants had already dispersed and left. No arrests were made.
The circumstances of the incident are being clarified.
