Michael Schumacher's watch collection sold for 4 million euros

At a Christie's auction in Geneva, eight wristwatches belonging to Michael Schumacher were sold. The collection was put up for auction by the family of the renowned Formula 1 racer.

According to Reuters, all items in the lot were sold for 4.1 million euros (4.4 million dollars). The most expensive were vintage pink Patek Philippe watches. An unknown buyer paid $2,711,500 for them.

Also at the Geneva auction, platinum watches from F. P. Journe (Vagabondage 1 Model) were sold for $1,646,700. These were the watches that Jean Todt, former head of Ferrari, gifted to Michael Schumacher for Christmas in 2004. They feature the Ferrari logo, Schumacher's helmet, and the number "7" in honor of the racer's seven world championship victories.

Most of the lots were sold for a price comparable to the initial estimate.

Recall that in 2013, during a holiday at the ski resort of Meribel in the Alps, seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher suffered a serious head injury with multiple brain injuries and hemorrhaging. Nine months after being hospitalized, the racer was transferred to home care.
