Medication for Covid-19 to be Immediately Shipped to Cyprus from Greece
A batch of the antiviral drug "Paxlovid" for Covid-19 will be promptly sent to Cyprus from Greece. The medicine was supposed to arrive from Frankfurt on Wednesday morning, but inclement weather in central Germany led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights from the city airport, making the delivery impossible.
As a result, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus reached an agreement with the Greek authorities to send a separate batch of the drug from Greece before the arrival of the shipment from Germany. Earlier deliveries of medications also experienced delays, which, according to the Ministry of Health, were caused by factors beyond their control.
"Paxlovid" is certified in the European Union for treating Covid-19 in adults who do not require additional oxygen and are at an increased risk of developing symptoms to a severe form of Covid-19.
Previously, the Ministry of Health stated that "Paxlovid" could be prescribed by general practitioners, virologists, pulmonologists, hematologists, oncologists, cardiologists, nephrologists, neurologists, and other specialists. Side effects of the drug include diarrhea, high blood pressure, changes in taste sensations, and muscle pain.
Recall that it was previously reported that after the New Year holidays, Cyprus experienced a Covid-19 outbreak. Health professionals were compelled to reintroduce the mandatory use of masks, though not everywhere.
