Strovolos Launches Cleanup and Infrastructure Repair Campaign in Refugee Settlements
Strovolos has launched a large-scale campaign to clean up and repair infrastructure in four of the city's refugee settlements. The works are scheduled to run from March to June 2026.
The program will cover the Kokkines, Aspres, Strovolos II, and Strovolos III districts. Municipal services will clean public spaces, remove bulky waste, prune trees, maintain green areas, and repair roads and sidewalks.
Additionally, plans include updating road markings and signs, treating areas for mosquitoes using eco-friendly products, and replacing waste bins.
Strovolos Mayor Stavros Stavrinidis stated that the goal of the campaign is to improve the condition of the neighborhoods and enhance resident safety. According to him, many problems in these quarters have been accumulating for decades.
Authorities also reported that some small green areas had been unilaterally occupied by residents of neighboring houses. The municipality intends to resolve this issue gradually through dialogue with the residents.
