Increased Road Checks in Cyprus Between Maundy Thursday and Easter Monday
In anticipation of Easter, the Cyprus Republic Police are intensifying security measures on urban highways. Reinforced patrols by law enforcement agencies will be on duty between Maundy Thursday and Easter Monday.
According to the police statement, due to the expected increase in road traffic during the holidays, police presence on the country's main highways will be intensified from May 2nd to May 6th.
During intensive checks of drivers' compliance with traffic rules, the police will pay special attention to violations such as speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, as well as failure to wear seat belts by drivers.
These violations are the main causes of serious and fatal road traffic incidents. Additionally, the police will monitor that motorcycle riders and passengers wear helmets, and that drivers do not get distracted by phone calls while driving.
The police advise drivers to be cautious behind the wheel, observe traffic rules, obey traffic lights, and follow the instructions of police officers on duty.
