Cyclone Coral Approaches Cyprus: Weather Forecast for February 19
The Meteorology Department of the Republic of Cyprus reports that a moderate low-pressure system is affecting the region on Wednesday, February 19. However, starting Thursday, Cyclone Coral will bring a sharp drop in temperatures and strong winds as it moves across the island.
The day will begin with partly cloudy skies, but by the afternoon, isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected. Some areas may experience hail, and the highest peaks of the Troodos Mountains will see snowfall.
Temperature Forecast
- Daytime temperatures will reach around 18°C inland and along the coast, while the mountains will see highs of 8°C.
- Evening temperatures will drop to approximately 6°C inland, 9°C on the coast, and 0°C in the mountains, where frost is expected in some areas.
As night falls, localized cloud cover may bring scattered showers, mainly in the north, east, and possibly inland areas. Snowfall is also expected in the mountains.
As of the latest report, snow depth stands at 1 cm in Troodos Square and 7 cm at Mount Chionistra.
Outlook: Colder Days Ahead
Thursday and Friday will be particularly cold, with rain and snowfall expected in the mountains. By Friday night, weather conditions will deteriorate even further. From Thursday through Saturday, temperatures will continue to drop, falling significantly below seasonal averages.
