Cyprus Sees Surge in Scam SMS Posing as Postal Service

Cyprus has recorded an increase in fraudulent SMS messages disguised as official notifications from the Postal Department. These messages claim that parcel delivery is impossible due to an address error, urging recipients to click a link or call a specified number to correct the details.
The Postal Department warns citizens to exercise extreme caution, even if the message appears authentic and contains the official logo or styling. The department emphasizes that payment for services is made exclusively via the JCCSmart platform and the official website, and any alternative electronic links may indicate fraud.
In these fake notifications, recipients are told that their parcel has arrived at the delivery center but was not released due to an address error. Scammers then suggest visiting a link, such as dpdpost.icu, or calling the number 8000 2000. The message also includes instructions on how to open the link in a browser, which is part of the scam.
Authorities advise citizens not to click suspicious links, not to enter personal or payment details on unverified websites, and, if in doubt, to contact the Postal Department directly via official channels.
