In Cyprus, scammers are selling unclaimed parcels from the post office online
The Cyprus Postal Service has issued an official warning about a new type of fraud. The scam involves the alleged "sale" of unclaimed parcels and packages stored in the postal service warehouses.
The statement notes that a Facebook page with the name "Cyprus Mailman" and the logo of the postal service is fraudulent. Users are urged to contact postal service employees to verify if the message is authentic.
Scammers can be identified by the fact that they do not refer to the official website of the postal service https://www.cypruspost.post/ and ask for payments through portals other than JCC, as stated in the message.
"The Cyprus Postal Service does not store unclaimed parcels, as they are returned to the sender in case of non-delivery," the press release states.
It is worth recalling that similar scams have been previously reported in Cyprus: unknown individuals posted an online advertisement selling lost luggage for 2.99 euros on behalf of the baggage service at Larnaca Airport.
