The Limassol Carnival 2024 begins in Cyprus: program

The official start of the 2024 carnival will take place in Limassol today. The festival will last for 11 days.

The Limassol Carnival will kick off at 11:00 with carnival festivities, music, and treats in front of the Hellenic Bank (Gladstonos Street) and the Bank of Cyprus (Agios Andrea Street, opposite Ayia Napa Church). At 13:30, the "Kantadoroi Limassol" group will perform at Saripolou Square, followed by DJs performing until 17:00.

At 18:00, the Limassol Municipality, in collaboration with the Urban Union of Self-Taught Artists, will organize an exhibition of paintings on the theme of "Carnival 2024" at the Municipal Hall, featuring the children's and mixed choirs of Limassol and the Kato Polemidia Municipality.

Simultaneously, at Grigoris Afxentiou Square (Command Office), the percussion group Batukinio will perform, followed by "The Latin Way of Pop" group with songs and dances inspired by Latin America.

At 19:00, the Mayor and the Municipal Council, the carnival royal family, and the Limassol Municipality Philharmonic Orchestra will commence the carnival procession. The procession will be led by the choir "New Times," singers Ariones, and Giorgalletu.

At 19:30, Limassol will welcome the new carnival queen, Christiana Haralambous, the "Pearl of the Mediterranean," at Grigoris Afxentiou Square, where she will arrive accompanied by her escort on a chariot.

Following the coronation of the new queen at Grigoris Afxentiou Square, a carnival party will take place with songs and dances by the renowned Greek singer Paschalis, featuring songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and modern compositions.

The festive events of the carnival will take place in Limassol from March 7th to 17th. Traditionally, it will conclude with the Grand Parade along Makarios Avenue.
