Prison Blogger Attacked with Knife in Cyprus
A prisoner at the Central Prison in Nicosia was attacked with a knife and has been hospitalized.
According to the police press office, the attack took place on Monday afternoon inside the prison. The victim, a Greek Cypriot inmate, was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital with injuries to several parts of his body, likely caused by a sharp object.
Reports indicate that just a few days before the attack, the victim posted a video on social media, filmed inside the Central Prison. After the video was published, authorities conducted a search of his cell to find the mobile phone used to record it.
Some sources suggest that shortly after the post, the prisoner managed to make his way onto the roof of the prison. Following this, he was moved to another wing of the facility, where the attack occurred.
The Nicosia Police are now investigating the incident.
