A new storm warning has been announced in Cyprus: rain and thunderstorms are expected on March 20th
According to the Department of Meteorology of the Republic of Cyprus, on Wednesday, March 20th, the region is affected by weak low pressure. Meteorologists have declared a new "yellow" storm warning due to heavy rain and thunderstorms: it will be in effect in the country today from 11:00 to 17:00.
Today, in the first half of the day, variable cloudiness, rain, and isolated thunderstorms are expected, initially in the west and north of the island, and then in other areas as well. Hail is possible during thunderstorms.
According to the meteorological forecast, during the day today, the air temperature will reach up to 20°C in inland areas and on the northern coasts, around 21 degrees in the southeast and on the eastern coast, up to 19°C on the remaining coasts, and up to 9°C in mountainous areas.
By the evening, locally increased cloudiness is expected on the western and southern coasts, and a thin fog will form inland. The air temperature will drop to about 9°C in inland areas and on the northern coast, to 12°C on the western coast, to 11°C on the rest of the coast, and to 3°C in mountainous areas, where local frosts are expected.
It is expected that by Saturday the air temperature will gradually decrease slightly and will fluctuate slightly below the average climatic values.
