Cyprus Sets New Tourism Record
The Republic of Cyprus welcomed a record number of tourists in the first seven months of 2024, with total arrivals on the island surpassing 2.2 million.
According to the Cyprus Statistical Service, from January to July 2024, the number of tourists reached 2,203,704, representing a 3.1% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
In July alone, the country registered 551,229 arrivals, marking a 5.3% rise compared to July 2023.
This number slightly surpassed the peak levels recorded before the pandemic in July 2019.
Notably, compared to July 2023, the number of arrivals from the United Kingdom and Israel showed significant growth, increasing by 6.15% and 10%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the number of trips abroad by Cyprus residents in July 2024 decreased by 7% compared to the previous year, totaling 171,382 trips.
Greece remained the most popular travel destination for Cypriots (just over 40% of trips), followed by the United Kingdom and Italy.
