Cyclone "Avgi" continues to wreak havoc in Cyprus: weather report for January 31st
According to the Department of Meteorology of the Republic of Cyprus, Wednesday, January 31st, the region remains under low pressure. A strong cyclone named "Avgi" (Dawn) will continue to affect the island until Thursday. An "orange" storm warning remains in effect in the country.
In the first half of the day, the weather will be predominantly cloudy, with local showers, isolated thunderstorms, and snowfall in the mountains. Hail may also fall during thunderstorms, and snowfall may intensify.
According to the meteorological service forecast, during the day today, the air temperature will reach up to 13°C in the inland areas, up to 16°C on the southern and eastern coasts, up to 14°C on the western and northern coasts, and down to 2°C in mountainous areas, where frost predominates.
By the evening and night, the weather will still be cloudy, with local rain, isolated thunderstorms, and snow in the mountains. Hail may also fall during thunderstorms, and snowfall may temporarily intensify.
The air temperature will drop to approximately 4°C in the inland areas, down to 6°C on the coasts, and down to 2°C in mountainous areas. Frost is expected in the mountains, as well as in some inland areas of the country. It is also noted that the snow cover height in the Troodos mountains at the time of the bulletin release was 21 cm.
Until the weekend, the air temperature will gradually rise and fluctuate near average climatic values or even slightly higher.
