Multinational exercise 'Argonaut 2026' featuring sea and air forces to take place in Cyprus
The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus has announced the conduct of the multinational civil-military cooperation exercise «Argonaut 2026», which will take place from May 11 to 15, 2026. The exercise will cover the country's sea, air, and land space, including the Flight Information Region (FIR) and the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The organization and coordination of the exercise are entrusted to the National Guard with the participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Search and Rescue Coordination Center. Various state services of Cyprus, as well as military and aviation units from foreign countries, will participate in the training, highlighting the international nature of the event.
As part of the program, the national plans «Estia» and «Tefkros» will be practiced, providing for the reception of civilians from potential crisis zones and response to maritime emergencies. Special attention will be paid to search and rescue operations within Cyprus's area of responsibility.
A separate phase of the exercise focused on search and rescue operations will take place on May 14 at 17:00 in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus with the participation of foreign partners. The maneuvers will be observed by the Minister of Defence and ambassadors of the participating countries from the Operations Center of the Search and Rescue Coordination Center.
