Seat Belt Enforcement Week Underway in Cyprus
Cyprus Police have launched a nationwide campaign to check the use of seat belts and child car seats.
The operation runs from March 9 to 15 and aims to reduce the number of serious injuries and fatalities in road traffic accidents.
During the raids, police officers are checking whether drivers and passengers are buckled up in both the front and rear seats, as well as the correct use of child seats and boosters.
The campaign is being conducted simultaneously with a pan-European operation coordinated by ROADPOL — the European Roads Policing Network.
Police reminded that seat belts remain the most effective means of protection in a vehicle. According to an analysis of accidents from 2022–2024, 50.9% of those killed in crashes in Cyprus were not wearing seat belts.
