Almost 100 kg of drugs found in a container with children’s goods in Cyprus

In Cyprus, law enforcement authorities seized almost 100 kilograms of drugs hidden in a container with goods. The banned substances were disguised inside inflatable toys.
According to the Customs Department, on 23 September 2025 in Limassol, during the inspection of a container arriving from Greece, radiological control raised suspicions of the presence of illegal substances. As a result, a decision was made to conduct a detailed inspection of the cargo in the presence of the Drug Enforcement Unit (ΥΚΑΝ).
Inside three inflatable toys, officers discovered 92 sealed packages with dried plant material weighing a total of 97 kilograms and 360 grams, which was identified as cannabis. In addition, five packages with white powder weighing 5 kilograms and 300 grams were found, confirming the presence of cocaine.
All the drugs and the container itself were handed over to ΥΚΑΝ for further investigation. On 27 September, authorities reported the arrest of four individuals suspected of involvement in the case.
