Man detained in Cyprus for transporting illegal migrants

The Larnaca District Court ordered the six-day detention of a 57-year-old man suspected of facilitating the illegal entry of third-country nationals into the Republic of Cyprus.
According to police, around 20:00, officers from the Green Line control unit stopped a vehicle for inspection in the Athienou area.
There were two passengers in the car, aged 17 and 18. The inspection showed that both were in the territory of the Republic illegally.
All three were taken to the Athienou police station. Later, the two young men were transferred to a reception center in Nicosia, while the driver was brought to court.
The court issued a six-day detention order to allow the police to continue the investigation. The case remains under investigation.
