Bus driver detained in Cyprus for driving under the influence
Cyprus police detained a 58-year-old bus driver after an inspection on the Nicosia — Limassol motorway.
The incident occurred around 21:00 when traffic police officers stopped the bus for a check. During a preliminary breathalyzer test, the device showed 44 μg%, which significantly exceeds the legal limit of 9 μg%.
Following this, the driver was taken to the Pera Chorio police station for a final test, but he failed to provide a sufficient sample for analysis.
The man was detained, and his driving license was immediately seized and suspended.
After being charged in writing, he was released on the condition of appearing in court at a later stage. The investigation is being conducted by the Pera Chorio police station.
