160 Kilograms of Prohibited Chicken Seized at Metehan Checkpoint
At the Metehan checkpoint in Nicosia, authorities successfully intercepted the importation of prohibited chicken meat into the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The vehicle's owner has been fined.
According to the police press service, the incident occurred around 12:20 PM the day before. A 39-year-old resident of the Republic of Cyprus attempted to enter the TRNC in his vehicle through the Metehan checkpoint. During the inspection, customs officers discovered 160 kilograms of frozen chicken meat, which is banned from importation into the TRNC.
In response, customs, and tax officials imposed an administrative fine on the violator.
