A series of crimes recorded in Southern Cyprus: fight, knife and axe attacks, fraud of €123,943

At the end of January and in the following days, media in Southern Cyprus reported a series of criminal incidents: a mass street fight in Limassol, a knife attack in Larnaca, an axe attack, a police assault, and a major fraud.

According to Politis, on Monday evening in Limassol, a street fight occurred between two groups, reportedly from the Indian community. Police arriving at the scene around 21:00 did not find participants on site but discovered blood traces and other evidence. Investigations established the involvement of 15 people; three were injured, and 12 were arrested.

In Larnaca, a 30-year-old Greek man was reportedly stabbed after meeting a 31-year-old man he connected with through social media on January 23. According to the report, the attacker was identified and found in the TRNC; he was then handed over to the authorities of Southern Cyprus through the bicommunal committee.

The publication also reports an Algerian citizen attacked his ex-wife and her partner with an axe; the suspect awaits a hearing in the High Criminal Court on March 12. In Limassol, a police officer was injured during a collision with a 29-year-old motorcyclist who ignored a stop requirement and was arrested after a chase by police motorcyclists from unit Z.

According to Alithia, a company fell victim to a fraud using a fake email: from September to the present, €123,943 was transferred from the account using fake credentials; the company director filed a police report.
